Oh Dear...I've tiptoed around life thinking "Never be yourself." I believe I missed my calling; I should have been an actor. I've been acting for 65 years... now what?
I'm thinking, have been for a few days now. For the life of me I can't think of who/what I will be. . . so, I will keep thinking about this. Maybe I will be a smooth white flat rock, one that people admire, pick up and put into their pocket. I will grow to know many pockets and have many friends. A rock that people will take out of their pocket and throw across clear blue water and I will skip across to another shore, traveling from shore to shore. This sounds like a pretty good life.
I've never before been particularly thrilled at the idea of being a rock, I'm attracted to the the more showy lives of trees and rivers and stars. But you make it poetic, revealing spirit where it might be missed.
